800-HP Ford GT Mk IV Now Third-Fastest Car to Lap the 'Ring
The limited-production, track-only Ford GT circled the Green Hell over 14 seconds faster than the Mercedes-AMG One.
The Ford GT Mk IV has raced its way into the record books, posting the third-fastest overall lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Driven by Ford Racing factory driver Frédéric Vervisch, the prototype-spec Ford GT lapped the Green Hell in an impressive 6:15.977.
Not only does this make the GT Mk IV the fastest car from an American brand to lap the 'Ring, but it's also now the fastest gas-only car.
The Nürburgring is one of the world's most famous racetracks. Nestled in Germany's idyllic Eifel Mountains, the 12.9-mile Nordschleife (a.k.a. North Loop) is affectionately known as the Green Hell. It's also the track where automakers go to earn bragging rights over each other.
