2026 Shelby Wide-Body Super Snake-R: An 850-HP Ford Mustang GTD Alternative?
Ford took the Mustang to new heights when it unveiled the 815-horsepower Mustang GTD. Shelby American, a longtime collaborator with the Blue Oval, but always one to put their own stamp on things, just fired back: The limited-edition 2026 Shelby Wide Body Super Snake-R packs a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 rated at over 850 horsepower, features a muscular-looking body kit, and costs as much as a German supercar.
Shelby American started with the Ford Mustang Dark Horse and added forced induction to the V8 to increase horsepower from 500 to over 850. The engine exhales through a Borla exhaust, an upgraded radiator keeps things cool under the hood, and a six-speed manual with a short-throw shifter sends the cavalry to massive rear tires.
