New Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Spy Photos Show Successor Will Offer a Convertible
The previous GT500 didn't come as a convertible, but Car and Driver spied soft-top test mules for the muscle car that will fill the gap between the Dark Horse and GTD.
Car and Driver spy photographer has caught Ford testing a convertible version of the upcoming Mustang Shelby GT500 successor.
While the previous generation, sold from 2020 to 2022, came exclusively as a coupe, Ford is bringing back the softtop model.
Rumors suggest it may not wear the Shelby badge, but it should still offer close to 800 horsepower from a supercharged V-8.
A new Mustang GT500 is on the way, and while it may not end up wearing a Shelby badge, we now know it will also come in convertible form. Although Ford already launched a flagship variant for the seventh-generation Mustang in the form of the supercar-conquering Mustang GTD, there's still a performance gap between that 815-hp winged beast and the 500-hp Dark Horse.
