Which 2000s Luxury Lincoln Sedan Was Available With A Stick Shift?
Luxury sedans from the early 2000s rarely broke the mold. If they were American, they usually leaned into plushness, not performance. If they were foreign, they cost a small fortune. But tucked away in this crowd was a surprising outlier: an American luxury four-door with rear-wheel drive, a V8 option, and, against all odds, a manual transmission. It didn’t wear a Cadillac badge or a Chrysler wing. It came from Lincoln, of all brands.
When Lincoln launched the LS in 2000, the idea was to claw back relevance in a luxury market increasingly dominated by Europe and Japan. The rear-wheel-drive chassis and available V8 engine weren’t typical Lincoln fare, but that was the point. Ford’s Premier Automotive Group had Jaguar and Volvo under its wing at the time, and the LS actually shared its DEW98 platform with the Jaguar S-Type and later the Ford Thunderbird.
