For Sale: 1980 Mercury Capri Cosworth Prototype (widebody, 1.6L I4, 5-speed, 468 miles)

This 1980 Mercury Capri is a one-off widebody prototype that was jointly developed on the then-new Fox platform by the Mercury Performance Marketing Corp of America and McLaren Engines, Inc. Power comes from a 1.6-liter DOHC Cosworth BDA inline-four that is fed by twin Weber carburetors and paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Additional features include custom steel bodywork by Ron Fournier, functional brake and cooling ducts, a locking 9″ rear end, heated Recaro seats, and BBS wheels. The car spent time in Oklahoma and Georgia before being acquired by the selling dealer, and shows under 500 miles after five years in their showroom. This Capri is offered with a window sticker, ownership history, period photos and Ford Motorsport postcards, copies of a 1981 issue of Autoweek with the car on the cover, an Elite Marti report, and a clean Florida title.
