Someone Tore Through San Francisco To Recreate Bullitt Chase Scene

The guys at Gas Monkey Garage have recreated one of Hollywood's most famous car chase scenes.

The classic car chase scene in the 1968 film Bullitt really needs no introduction. Watching Steve McQueen in a classic Ford Mustang chase after a Dodge Charger through the streets of San Francisco never gets old. Last year marked the film’s 50th anniversary, and to celebrate Ford launched a new special edition Bullitt version of the current Mustang. The original Mustang driven by Steve McQueen in the film was also rediscovered after being missing for decades. And now the guys at Gas Monkey Garage have paid their own tribute to the iconic chase scene.

Not only did they build an authentic replica of the original Mustang, but they also decided to film their own remake of the chase with the help of Richard Rawlings and Steve McQueen’s son, Chad McQueen, who makes a brief appearance at the end of the film.
