Driven: 2019 Ford Ranger
The new truck market is finally, gradually, returning to what it was in the early 2000s. What do we mean by that? For nearly a decade it seems like trucks have just gotten bigger, more expensive, and chocked full of premium options. Smaller trucks with lower base MSRPs have gradually become more and more tough to find. There’s ample reason for OEMs to do this: big trucks are more popular than ever, and companies make a lot of money off of them. Though, demand has started to grow again for smaller options. The Toyota Tacoma and Chevy Colorado have been around for a while and have dominated this segment, but finally, Ford has realized this trend and re-introduced an American icon which hasn’t graced dealer lots since 2011: the 2019 Ford Ranger.
