"Super-sizing Your SN-95 Mustang's Wheels and Tires"

When it comes to wheels and tires, bigger is always better. Well, maybe not for driving in the snow, but we are talking about Mustangs here!

SN-95 Mustangs were the curvy ones available from 1994 to 1998, sandwiched in between the boxy Foxes and the edgy New Edge Mustangs. SN-95's ran for 2 years with the torquey 5.0 liter, and then switched over to the rev-happy 4.6 liter, which debuted in 1996 for the Mustang, and made some serious horsepower if you opted for the SVT Cobra.

That said, the Mustang GT and SVT Cobra came with 17” x 8” wheels all around, standard on the Cobra and optional on the Mustang GT. Tire size was 245/45-17, which was impressive back then, but smallish now. Also taking into consideration is that the SN-95 had a swoopy design that flared out in the back, giving the stock tires a tucked-in look that just will not do.

Even with the engine in stock trim, these wheels and tires are barely able to keep from spinning when you nail the accelerator pedal hard. If the engine is modded, then Fuhgedaboudit!

Our friends at Latemodel Restoration Supply got our attention with their super-sized deep dish Bullitt wheels and tire package. The package consists of fat 17” x 9” wheels for the front covered in beefy 275/40-17 tires, and massive 17” x 10.5” wheels for the rear shod with borderline-obnoxious 315/35-17’s. Tires are Sumitomo HTRZ, although you can opt for Nitto NT555’s for a few bucks more.

When the tires arrive, and when you compare them to the stockers, you at first cannot believe they will fit, but fit they do, and your SN-95 takes on a whole new aggressive look. Yes, your handling will improve also.

Just make sure you have a 13/16” THIN-WALL deep-socket available. The stock lug wrench and most 4-sided lug wrenches will not fit these wheels. Neither will your AAA guy, so keep one handy at all times.

The price of $900, which includes mounting and balancing, plus $15 flat rate shipping, makes this package a "steal" in our book. What are you waiting for? Order yourself a set for your SN-95 Mustang now! And when you do, don't forget to tell them that StangBangers.com recommended you super-size your Mustang’s wheels and tires!
