- Differences between domestic and "export" Mustangs: Export Mustangs are cars that were built to be shipped outside of the U.S. to Europe, the Middle East, Japan and Australia. Some details include the amber side marker lights on the back half of the front fender, the fender flares over all four wheels, the folding door mirrors and the amber section on lower outer edge of the taillights. The horizontal taillights were also used on 1994, 1995, and 1996 cars. Vertical lights didn't come until the '97 and '98 model years. This owner swapped out the stock taillights for ones from a silver 1996-1998 domestic spec Mustang.
