The exhaust system becomes a high-flow with X-pipe crossover with a deep-V8 voice that makes your blood turn cold in anticipation. A five-speed manual with a Hurst short-throw shifter is standard. (You can get a five-speed automatic, but why?) As part of the Ford Racing Handling Pack the car gains special-tuned dampers, custom sway bars, and a rear axle assembly at a ratio of 3.55:1. To get on top of body roll the overall height is dropped and strut-tower braces are added up front to shore up the chassis. Look for 18-inch sport polished wheels on the 2008s with P235/50ZR18 BF Goodrich gForce tires. Inside, just to remind you that you’re behind the wheel of something special, an authentication plate is placed on the center dash and a matching tag is positioned under the hood. When you’re driving a car this elite, you like to rub in the provenance whenever possible. In most cases the 2008 Shelby GT will go to the highest bidder. The starting price hovers north of $35,000. Finding car loans for such a specialty car maybe hard to come by but well worth the wait. Ford is also offering a 2008 Shelby GT500 and the Shelby GT500KR (King of the Road.) There will be about 10,000 of the GT500s floating around, but the 500KR will be kept at a production run of 1,000. Both of those Mustangs will purr at 500 hp with the 500KR being trumpeted as the most powerful production version to ever his a city street. It’s an impressive line of performance modified Mustangs from the king of power, Carol Shelby. There’s nothing in the 2008 Shelby GT Mustang to disappoint and everything to covet.
